Lola
underwent surgery on December 15, 2008. The leg amputation was a
success and Lola is already getting around much easier without the
non-functioning leg.
She has adjusted so quickly, more than I expected. Thanks to
all of your support and donations. ....Debbie
and family

Lola's Story
She was living in the Lowe's parking lot in Mira Loma and sleeping under Lowe's signage for approximately 2 months. Sadly, many people tried to catch her, including Animal Control, but she was afraid. She clearly had an injury, but was too scared to trust people. Bill, the security guard, noticed Lola in the vegetation along the 15fwy. He started putting food out for her. Two months later I visited Lowe's and saw this injured dog running through the Lowe's parking lot. From that point on... I made it my priority to get her out of this situation. I did not know if she would be adoptable, but I didn't want her to suffer any longer. Thanks to some very wonderful animal friends, we were successful to catch her the night of August 15th, 2008 (had to sedate her) and get x-rays of her leg. The poor girl was most likely hit by a car on the 15fwy and made her way to the shopping center.
Lola's personality: Very sweet, loving, tender and so grateful for being saved from living her young life without a family. She is part Cattle Dog, has a purple tongue. She already runs around without using her leg, as she became adjusted to this injury while on her own. She loves all dogs, male or female. She came to us very underweight at 37 lbs., and we expect her weight to increase to about 45 lbs.
